Southern African Macadamia Growers’ Association (SAMAC) was found in 1979, which united numerous people working on growing, processing and marketing of macadamia nuts in South Africa.
SAMAC was managed by a board of directors who present different areas of growers.
SAMAC helped South Africa to hold the 3rd International Macadamia Symposium in 1999, 2009 and 2015.
The mission of SAMAC ---- Creating common interests and sustainable development in industry by innovating on technology and marketing.
Main asks of SAMAC:
1.Introducing the world’s advanced technologies of growing, managing and processing.
2.Investing on researching for competitive products, abstracting the best solutions on breeding and harvesting.
3.Offering technical service guidance to members by subsidizing, training and knowledge transferring.
4.Marketing and promoting macadamia nuts.
5.Establishing and improving cooperative relationship with governments to develop norms and rules for local and export market.
6.Presenting South Africa on international trading negotiation of macadamia nuts, e.g., importing taxes deduction and new market access permission.
In order to attract professionals, SAMAC offers financial support to students having Master of Science Degree, major in Horticulture Science. If there is job position vacant in SAMAC, a priority hiring opportunity is promised.
New members join every week and there are over 700 members in SAMAC by now.
Providing over 6000 permanent positions for South Africa ever year.
Export of macadamia nuts, which achieved 3.98 billion Rand, has become main source of foreign income in South Africa.
