An one-time buyout right of the first phase 2690 acres of land was obtained by Yunnan Sanzhu Agriculture and Forestry Technology Co., Ltd. and the second phase of 3400 acres land adopted the cooperation mode of company + peasant household. The company and growers worked together with complementary advantages and achieved win-win results. The Babo villagers’ group of He’ an Village Committee in Mengma Town of Menglian County is a poor village of Lahu nationality with 56 households, and 38 households with file for poverty alleviation. In 2013, Yunnan Sanzhu Agriculture and Forestry Technology Co., Ltd. and the Babo village group entered into a cooperation agreement, arranged that the villagers invest in the land, and the Sanzhu responsible for the seed seedlings, fertilizers, technical training, market sales, subsidy for growers management and labor services, etc. Growers and company had 30% and 70% share respectively with planting 1600 acres of macadamia nuts, an average of 28 acres of cooperative land per household. According to the market price of macadamia nuts in 2018, the market price is 10 Yuan per kilogram, and the output of nuts is 300 kilograms per acres. The yield per acres is about 3,000 Yuan. The average net income per grower is 900 Yuan, and the income per household can reach 25,200 Yuan. According to 4 households per household, only one macadamia nut income has far exceeded the national poverty alleviation standard of 3,000 Yuan per capita. Local farmers also have income from coffee, tea, sugar cane, corn and rice. In comparison, macadamia nut is the industry with the lowest investment and the best income, and has long-term and stable poverty alleviation effects.
The greatest truth is the simplest. The painful points for rural households in mountainous areas to develop their economy are lack of money [lack of funds], unknown what to plant [information asymmetry], unknown how to plant [lack of technology], and unknown to whom to sell when planted [lack of market]. But the painful points of the industrial and commercial capital development in the city are the lack of land [no suitable land] and the difficulty of recruiting workers [lack of labor force]. The mode of company plus peasant households has solved their pain points an respectively and strengthened their advantages.
