On October 17, at the 8th International Macadamia Symposium, a clamp-shape nut shell opener invented by Songge Industries attracted the attention of many foreign guests.

Zhang Guangyin, vice general manager of the company, told reporters that the shell opener was inspired by the salesman's daily nut acquisition work. In September last year, during a regular purchase of nuts, the company's salesmen found that it was extremely inconvenient to eat nut because of hard shell. Thick shells of nuts needed to be broken with a hammer. The process was cumbersome and unsanitary. Because of this inconvenience, many families of nut growers do not entertain guests by sharing macadamia nuts.

"No family will put a hammer in the living room, and the process of smashing nuts is extremely easy to damage kernel inside." Zhang Guangyin, the head of the company, said.

To make it easier for growers to eat fresh nuts, Songge Industries has set up a product design and R&D project that a shell opener that convenient for removing shell and harmless to the nuts was gradually formed. Zhang Guangyin said: "In order to make shell opener working perfect, the company has invested 400,000 yuan in research and development. Today, what we see is the fourth generation design with four patents." At the design level, the shell opener can easily handle all kinds of nuts with a diameter of 16mm to 35mm, and the whole kernel rate reaches 90%. At the same time, considering the safety of family members, it also has a special safety mechnism to children for prevent from pinching their fingers.

Convenient and user-friendly design has attracted much attention during the eighth International Macadamia Symposium. Only two days after the exhibition, the product has won orders from many countries, including Australia, South Africa, and so on, with a total sales of more than 2500 sets.
Zhang Guangyin said that Yunnan Songge Industrial is an agricultural and forestry enterprise focusing on the cultivation, research and development, processing and trade of Macadamia nuts. The shell opener was designed to make it easy for local growers to carry around and use on a daily basis. "Fruit growers know that Songge Industries is a real company rooted in nut industry, so growers will sell more nuts to us." It didn't expected that this tool became a star product in this symposium.
