Benno Schmidt Jr.

Benno Schmidt is among the world’s leading innovators in primary, secondary, and tertiary education. He has served as president of Yale University, dean of Columbia University Law School, and C.E.O. and chairman of Edison Schools (now EdisonLearning), a pioneer in the nation’s charter-school movement. More recently, he co-founded Avenues: The World School, in Manhattan. Benno chaired the board of trustees of the City University of New York, the largest urban public university in the world. He also chairs the board of the nonprofit Council for Aid to Education, a group that helps colleges and universities with accountability and academic planning. Early in his career, Benno clerked for Chief Justice Earl Warren, of the United States Supreme Court, and thereafter worked for two years in the U.S. Department of Justice. Benno recently received national recognition as the recipient of the sixth annual Philip Merrill Award of the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (A.C.T.A.) for outstanding contributions to liberal-arts education.

Barnaby Lenon taught at Eton for 12 years, was the deputy head of Highgate School, head of Trinity School Croydon and head of Harrow for 12 years. Jason Tsui currently serves as the General Principal, Assistant Chair of BOD of Zhongshan Whampoa International Education (ZWIE) Group with 11 different schools affiliated in Guangzhou CHINA. Rod Fraser is the immediate past CEO/Principal of Ivanhoe Grammar, Melbourne, a prominent coeducational school of more that 2,200 students, a position he held for 20 years. Rod has had an extensive educational career in three States of Australia, as a teacher and senior administrator, including Principal of two Schools and as a lecturer and tutor at the University of Melbourne and Melbourne College of Education. Rod is currently Chair of the Round Square International Network of Schools and has been extensively involved in Governance of the International Baccalaureate Organisation as past Chair of the Regional Council – Asia Pacific, and Member of the IB Heads’ World Council. In May 2011, Rod was appointed as a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators for exceptional achievements and leadership in international education organisations and adopting an international approach to schooling and in 2012, was made an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Council for Education Leaders. Tim Oates CBE

Tim Oates CBE joined Cambridge Assessment in May 2006 to spearhead the rapidly growing Assessment Research and Development division. He was previously at the Qualifications and Curriculum Agency, where he had been Head of Research and Statistics for most of the last decade. Work included advising on a pan-European 8-level qualifications framework. He has advised the UK Government for many years on both practical matters and assessment policy. He started his career as a research officer at the University of Surrey. He moved to the FE Staff College in 1987 where he helped run the Work-Based Learning project. London University's Institute of Education then appointed him as NCVQ Research Fellow. In 1993 he joined one of the QCA's predecessor bodies, the National Council for Vocational Qualifications, as Head of GNVQ Research and Development. Richard Gaskell

Feiyi (Jeff) Zhu has served as vice president of Dipont Education since 2012. He is responsible for business development, strategic planning and overseas relationship management at the corporate level. Through his work as general manager of Dipont’s Independent Schools Division, he is in charge of the creation and management of independent schools. Prior to his current post, he supervised cultural exchange programs and enrichment activities as vice president at ENREACH, a subsidiary of Dipont.
