Welcome to join 2021 SPDK, PMDK, Intel® Performance Analyzers Online Forum!

There are many developers, architects and technical experts from Intel. This is a good opportunity to gather online with the majority of users of SPDK, PMDK, Intel® Performance Analyzers, listen to the latest technology sharing, short-term and long-term technical planning, and participate in interactive discussions. The content of the meeting includes the latest project status, case sharing, in-depth sharing of features and technical guidance.

Storage Performance Development Kit (SPDK)

SPDK is a software development kit packed with valuable, highly optimized code for storage applications. SPDK is designed for the latest non-volatile media, storage networking, and architected to allow for millions of IOPS per core while reducing both average and tail latency, all with an open-source license.

Persistent Memory Development Kit (PMDK)

PMDK is an open-source project hosted by Intel. The introduction of Persistent Memory (PMem) marks the beginning of a revolution in the computing industry. PMDK is a collection of open-source (vendor-neutral) libraries that makes this new paradigm of merging Memory and Storage possible. Persistent Memory/Intel® Optane™ persistent memory blurs the line between storage and memory by being both byte-addressable as well as persistent.

Intel® Performance Analyzers

Intel provides a set of performance analysis tools for developers to design, optimize and debug applications for maximizing performance across Intel CPUs, GPUs, and FPGAs. Intel® VTune™ Profiler collects key profiling data needed to optimize application performance, system performance, and system configuration for HPC, cloud, IoT, media, storage, and more. It also supports SPDK, PMDK, and the latest Intel® Optane™ DC persistent memory. Intel® Advisor is a design and analysis tool for achieving high application performance. This is done through efficient threading, vectorization, and memory use, and GPU offload on current and future Intel® hardware. Intel® Inspector helps locate and debug threading, memory, and persistent memory errors early in the design cycle to avoid costly errors later. Customers also get early access to our latest hardware via the Intel® DevCloud, a free, virtual development sandbox to learn about and program one API cross-architecture applications.

Sri leads development of software analyzers products spanning compute and graphics performance, parallelism, power, software correctness. With over 25 years of experience in compilers, debuggers, profilers, emulators, distributed & embedded systems, and hardware platforms, he specializes in designing and developing analysis tools that provide accurate and holistic profiles of software application on Intel platforms. Sri holds a B.Tech.(Honors) from Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur and a PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology, both in computer science.

Google HPC Solution Lead

Ilias Katsardis is the HPC Solution Lead for the Customer Engineering team (EMEA) at Google. In this role, Ilias brings over 14 years of experience in the cloud computing and high-performance computing industries to promote Google Cloud’s state-of-the-art infrastructure for complex HPC workloads. Previously, he worked as an applications analyst at Cray Inc., where he was a dedicated analyst to the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), and, prior to that, was an HPC application specialist at ClusterVision. Ilias also founded two startups Airwire Networks in 2006 and Performance Hive in 2017.

Jim Harris

Intel Principal Engineer, Chief SPDK Architect

Jim is a principal software engineer in Intel’s Data Center Group and the chief software architect of the Storage Performance Development Kit (SPDK) open source project. Jim was instrumental in starting the SPDK project at Intel in 2013 to provide a framework for building high performant and efficient storage software to take advantage of current and next generation non-volatile media. Jim has served in a wide variety of storage software related roles during his 19 years at Intel. He holds an MS in computer science from Case Western Reserve University.

Intel Engineering Manager

Dennis Wu is now the Engineering Manager working in the Intel. He has many years of work experience in IA architecture, performance optimization, software collaborative hardware development. At present, he mainly supports customers to apply persistent memory, solves their persistent memory problems, conducts software development and application adaptation, and provides technical consultation and supports for IA architecture and persistent memory customer solutions. Before joining Intel in 2013, he worked for digital TV development and integration at STMicroelectronics. Dennis graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2005.

Alibaba Cloud Senior Cloud Storage Engineer

Yanbo is a senior cloud storage engineer in the Elastic Block Storage (EBS) Team of Alibaba Cloud. He joined Alibaba Cloud EBS in 2019 after he earned a master's degree in computer science. Yanbo has abundant experience in cloud storage and storage reliability. At present, he is responsible for local storage instance and block cache in EBS. Before he joined Alibaba Cloud, he had served at Intel for two years as an intern. During that time, he had many contributions to the SPDK project. Yanbo is also one of the authors of "Linux Open Source Storage".

Mourad received his PhD degree from the University of Perpignan Via Domitia in France in Computer Science (Computer Architecture). He received the Master degree in Micro-architecture from the University of Boumerdes with a co-direction with the University of Perpignan in France in 2006. He received his Bachelor degree in Software Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Boumerdes. Started a Postdoctoral Research in Real-Time Embedded Software Group at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Waterloo in Canada(RIM Blackberry Research Lab) in 2012. Before joining the University of Waterloo he has been a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia in France and as a Postdoctoral Internship at the University of Illinois – Champaign-Urbana, UIUC working in Compiler Design. He started working at Yahoo in Silicon Valley in July 2012 - Oath in 2016 and Verizon in 2019 as Principal Performance Engineer, Hardware and Software Optimization.

Ziye Yang is a senior software engineer at Intel and is currently involved in cloud native related projects. Before that, Ziye worked at EMC for 4.5 years. Ziye is interested in system virtualization, file system and storage related research and development work. Ziye currently has 16 granted patents in US and 7 issued patents in PRC. Ziye holds a master degree in computer science from Fudan University in 2009.
