Second Announcement and Call for Abstracts

IUFRO International Symposium on Pine Wilt Disease

“PWD2023”

October 25-28, 2023

Nanjing, China



The Pine Wilt Disease Working Party (7.02.10), a section of IUFRO is dedicated to the research and technology development of Pine Wilt Disease (PWD) worldwide. The Working Party holds an International Pine Wilt Disease Conference regularly in countries around the world. Past events have taken place in Portugal (2006), China (2009), Germany (2013), Korea (2016) and France (2021). The next International PWD Symposium will be held in Nanjing, China, a historic and cultural city located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, from October 25-28, 2023. The main theme of PWD 2023 is “The Prevention, Theory, Technology and Management of Pine Wilt Disease”. This symposium aims to present the latest advances on the spread and pathogenicity of PWD, multi-species interactions, monitoring and control methods, and technology development for PWD management. 



General schedule:

The symposium will be held from October 25-28, 2023 (Wednesday to Saturday). An optional post-symposium field trip will be organized on 28th (optional).

The conference will be an offline event, held at International Conference Hotel of Nanjing, located at No. 2 Sifang Cheng, Zhongshanling, Nanjing 210014, China.


Registration and Payment

Registration:

Registration Fees:

The registration fee is RMB 3150 (about $450) per person for general participants and RMB 2520 (about $360) per student before August 15, 2023. The fee for participants who register on-site or after the deadline is RMB 4200 (about $600) per person. The fee for the post-symposium field trip is RMB 350 (about $50) per person.

Invoice:

An electronic invoice will be sent to your email within 7 working days after the registration.

 

Submission of Abstracts for Oral Presentations and Posters: 

We welcome submissions of oral presentations and posters on any subjects related to PWD research and management, including but not limited to:

· Pathogenesis of pine wood nematode disease

· Development and genetics

· Vector insects

· Multi-species interactions

· Diagnosis, monitoring, and early warning

· Prevention and control status and technology development

· Resistance breeding

Participants who wish to present their work are required to submit an abstract (in English) for evaluation and inclusion in the conference paper collection. The template for abstracts and posters can be found on the conference website: https://www.bagevent.com/event/8443317

 

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and should clearly state the purpose, methods, results, and conclusions of the research. Please indicate whether you would like to be considered for an oral presentation or a poster. The final decision regarding the format of presentation will be made by the conference organizers based on the content and relevance of the abstract. 

 

Conference accommodation:

The conference will be held at International Conference Hotel of Nanjing, located at No. 2 Sifang Cheng, Zhongshanling, Nanjing 210014, China. Detailed information on how to book your accommodation will be provided at a later date.

 

The following accommodation options are available at the hotel:

· Lijing House (two single beds) - RMB 480 per night (includes breakfast, taxes, and no service charge)

· Zijin House (two single beds or queen size bed) - RMB 520 yuan per night (includes breakfast, taxes, and no service charge)

· Zhongshan House (two single beds or queen size bed) - RMB 620 yuan per night (includes breakfast, taxes, and no service charge)

· Executive Suite - RMB 1500 yuan per night (includes breakfast, taxes, and no service charge)

Please note that the accommodation fees are subject to change and are based on availability. We recommend booking your accommodation as soon as possible to secure your preferred option.

 

Conference sponsorship and product display:

We welcome sponsors who wish to provide general support or support for specific events at the symposium. Sponsors' logos will be displayed on the symposium website and printed materials. Additionally, there will be opportunities for companies to showcase equipment and products related to forest pathology and entomology to potential clients.

 

We are excited to bring together researchers, experts, and practitioners in-person after a long absence of physical meetings. We look forward to hosting stimulating presentations and fostering interactions through your participation.
