Network Transformation - The Global Network Technology Conference (GNTC) will be held from November 28 in Beijing

The Global Network Technology Conference (GNTC) which is themed as "New Technology, New Architecture and New Network", will be opened at The Conference Center of Great Wall Hotel Beijing from November 28-30th, 2017 (www.theGNTC.com). Last year, over 2,000 attendees in the network communications industry participated in the unprecedented GNTC. This year, BII-CFIEC as the organizer will add a multiple of summits and hot workshops and invite more global top technical experts to the scene where in the 3-day meeting they will share their views on the most pure technical trends, showcase the latest and most complete networking technologies and applications, and discuss global network reconstruction with onsite industry elites.

As the largest network technology event in China, it will set up 2 main sessions, 13 roundtable forum, 8 technical summits (including SDN, NFV, IPv6, 5G, NB-IoT, network security, cloud and data center, edge network and edge computing,Internet Infrastructure and other hot topics), covering all the hot spots of the new generation of network technologies, and all-round presenting the latest development of the industry and technology. By providing a platform for the parties to communicate and exchange, it is dedicated to promoting win-win cooperation and the process of network reconstruction.

In this context, this GNTC conference will invite experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, network technology pioneers of countries, and selected experts of the Internet Hall of Fame to deliver speeches on the trends of world network technology development. In addition, the conference will collaborate with experts and contributors from Linux Foundation, ONF, MEF, APNIC, IPv6 Forum, OPNFV, ONAP, 3GPP and other communities to communicate with the audience on the latest technological achievements. At the same time, we will also invite representatives of well-known global operators, major manufacturers and application units to gather in Beijing to commit to the shared mission.

  • Father of the Internet
    Widely known as a “Father of the Internet,” Cerf is the co-designer of the TCP/IP protocols and the architecture of the Internet. In December 1997, President Bill Clinton presented the U.S. National Medal of Technology to Cerf and his colleague, Robert E. Kahn, for founding and developing the Internet. In 2004, Cerf was the recipient of the ACM Alan M. Turing award (sometimes called the “Nobel Prize of Computer Science”) and in 2005 he was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George Bush. Cerf began his work at the United States Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) playing a key role in leading the development of Internet and Internet-related data packet and security technologies. Since 2005, he has served as vice president and chief Internet evangelist for Google. In this role, he is responsible for identifying new enabling technologies to support the development of advanced, Internet-based products and services. He is also an active public face for Google in the Internet world. He also served from 2000-2007 as chairman of the board of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), an organization he helped form. Cerf served as founding president of the Internet Society from 1992-1995, and in 1999 served a term as Chairman of the Board.

    Mr. Wu, born on Jan. 16, 1943 in Guangzhou Province, China; graduated from Wuhan Post and Telecommunications Institute. He is the President of Internet Society of China, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and research fellow of fiber optical transport network and broadband network. He was Vice-President and Chief Engineer of China Academy of Telecommunications Technology, Vice President of Datang Telecom Group in 1997-2003. He was elected Member of the CAE in 1999 and Vice-President since Jun. 2002. Mr. Wu Hequan is one of the pioneers to undertake R&D in the field of digital communications technology in China. As R&D project manager and chief engineer, his project team was the first in the country to successfully develop many telecom equipments and systems, such as PCM30 terminal equipment, FDM/TDM Trans-MUX equipment, STM-1/STM-4 synchronous multiplexing equipments, 155Mb/s and 622Mb/s fiber optical transmission system and SDH demonstration project. He was Director of communications technology experts group of State Hi-tech program (863) in 1994-2000 and currently takes on Deputy Director of Supervisory Committee of 863 program and Member of Advisor Committee of National Basic Research (973) program. He was assigned as Member of China Advisory Committee for State Informatization and was Deputy-Director of the Executive Council of China Institute of Communications. He was awarded second grade prize of the State Science and Technology Progress Award.

    Dr. Jianping Wu has played a pioneering role in advancing Internet technology, deployment, and education in China and Asia Pacific, and has helped strengthen the region’s relationship with and position in the global Internet community Since 1994 he has led the design, development and evolution of CERNET, the first Internet backbone in China, helping it become the largest national academic network. He has also been a leader in the promotion and deployment of IPv6 in China, proposed the China Next Generation Internet Project—designed to facilitate the development of China’s next-generation Internet backbone—and led the development of CNGI-CERNET2, China’s first large-scale IPv6 Internet backbone and one of the largest native IPv6 networks in the world. He has consistently encouraged the participation of Chinese scientists in global Internet development efforts and has played an important role in developing advanced networks in Asia Pacific and Trans-Eurasia. He is a professor and chairman of the Department of Computer Science at Tsinghua University, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
  • 2012 Internet Hall of Fame, the Inventor of DNS
    Paul Mockapetris is best known as the creator of the Domain Name System (DNS), and wrote the first implementation of SMTP, the Internet’s mail protocol . At present, he is a director and Chief Scientist at Threatstop, a realtime threat prevention service, as well as director at Farsight Security. He was chair of an ICANN Strategic Panel, Chief Scientist and board member of Nominum, CTO at Urban Media, Siara, Fiberlane, and Software.com and director of engineering at @Home. He has been IETF chair, program manager at ARPA, and did 15 years of research at the USC Information Sciences Institute, 10 years at UC Irvine with the DCS project, and 4 years at MIT with the Architecture Machine Group before it became the Media Lab. He received his learner's permits in Physics and Electrical Engineering from the MIT in 1971, and a Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science from UC Irvine. He is a member of the Internet Hall of Fame, and is Doctor Honoris Causa of the Miguel Hernandez and Ramon Llull Universities. He is the recipient of the IEEE Internet award and the ACM Sigcomm award, and is a Fellow of the ACM, IEEE and the US National Academy of Engineering.

    Dr. Paul Vixie is an Internet pioneer. Previously, he served as President, Chairman and Founder of Internet Systems Consortium (ISC), as President of MAPS, PAIX and MIBH, as CTO of Abovenet/MFN, and on the boards of several for-profit and non-profit companies. Currently, he is the Chairman, CEO and cofounder of award-winning Farsight Security, Inc. In 2014, Dr. Vixie testified before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism United States Senate Committee for a hearing on “Taking Down Botnets.” The same year Dr. Vixie was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame for his work related to DNS. In addition, Dr. Vixie served on the ARIN Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2013, as ARIN Chairman in 2008 and 2009, and was a founding member of ICANN Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC) and ICANN Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC). He operated the ISC's F-Root name server for many years, and is a member of Cogent's C-Root team. Dr. Vixie is a sysadmin for Op-Sec-Trust. Dr. Vixie has been contributing to Internet protocols and UNIX systems as a protocol designer and software architect since 1980. He wrote Cron (for BSD and Linux), and is considered the primary author and technical architect of BIND 4.9 and BIND 8, and he hired many of the people who wrote BIND 9. He has authored or co-authored a dozen or so RFCs, mostly on DNS and related topics, and of Sendmail: Theory and Practice (Digital Press, 1994). His technical contributions include DNS Response Rate Limiting (RRL), DNS Response Policy Zones (RPZ), and Network Telemetry Capture (NCAP). He earned his Ph.D. from Keio University for work related to DNS and DNSSEC. A frequent speaker at industry conferences around the world, Dr. Vixie has presented at events such as Copenhagen Cybercrime Conference, RSA, Black Hat, SANS, FIRST, and IGNITE.

    Nick McKeown has been a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford University since 1995. In 2005 he started the Clean Slate Program at Stanford, which with Martin Casado and Scott Shenker led to "Software Defined Networking". He co-founded Nicira (now part of VMware), Abrizio and Nemo ("Network Memory", now part of Cisco), as well as ONF, ON.Lab and P4.org. In 2013 he co-founded Barefoot Networks, where he is Chairman and Chief Scientist. His current passion is to move the network data-plane from fixed-function hardware up and into software where it belongs. He hopes this will foster much faster innovation in networking, and finally hand over the keys to those who own and operate networks, to customize them to best suit their needs. Nick is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK). He received the British Computer Society Lovelace Medal (2005), the IEEE Kobayashi Computer and Communications Award (2009), the ACM Sigcomm Lifetime Achievement Award (2012), and an Honorary Doctorate from ETH (Zurich, 2014).

    Timon Sloane is the vice president of marketing and ecosystem of the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) leading the organization’s efforts with SDN standards, skills certification, and membership. In his role as vice president of standards, Timon’s primary focus is to drive activities within the organization relating to the OpenFlow® standard, bridging standards activities and open source initiatives to bring efforts in both areas under a single umbrella. Timon also leads efforts relating to the ONF-Certified SDN Professional (OCSP) Program to build and enhance the worldwide footprint of the ONF’s skills certifications. Timon works closely with current and potential ONF membership to ensure that the full community is working together towards a common goal of accelerating the adoption of SDN.

    Nan founded and is President of MEF, a leading standards/certification organization in the networking industry with aggregated member market capitalization of $US 2 trillion. He also co-founded CENX, a pioneer and leader in service orchestration solutions for software defined and virtualized networks. Prior to founding CENX, Nan held executive roles at Atrica (acquired by Nokia) and Bay Networks/SynOptics (acquired by Nortel). Nan has been well-recognized with awards/accolades, including the Leader of the Year in telecom, and one of the 100 Most Influential People in the Industry. In his past life, Nan was a record holder for pole vault at Beijing University.

    Dan Pitt has been a leading voice of the SDNFV movement since its inception. He served as Executive Director of ONF from its public launch in March 2011 until September 2016 and since January 2017 has been Senior Vice President of MEF. He also advises private and public companies to commercialize new ideas and stay abreast of new capabilities. Prior to ONF he ran and advised startup companies in Silicon Valley, Australia, and Canada and served as Dean of Engineering at Santa Clara University. He held executive management roles at Nortel Networks and Bay Networks, developed and managed networking technology and HP and IBM, and taught computer science and electrical engineering at Duke and UNC. He holds a B.S. in mathematics from Duke and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Illinois.

    Lingli Deng is a Senior Project Manager at China Mobile Research Institute. She obtained her Doctor’s degree in Computer Application Technology from the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences and joined China Mobile in 2009. She is a core member of the Novonet project which drives SDN/NFV strategy for China Mobile, and has been working on evaluation and introduction of data plane acceleration technology, running the Novonet Testing Lab and planning the SDN/NFV trial network for the company.     Since 1998 Antonio is working in Telefónica I+D, the Research and Development company of the Telefónica group. His areas of expertise include IP network architecture, NFV and SDN technologies, traffic analysis, QoS, network planning and dimensioning, routing and network performance, and techno-economic analysis. He is head of the virtualization strategy and technology area within the Telefónica Global CTO unit since 2013, coordinating the efforts of Telefónica in defining and standardizing NFV technologies and leading the team that has developed the NFV reference implementation lab and launched OpenMano as an Open Source project. Now the team is fully involved in a community open source project hosted in ETSI, OSM (Open Source MANO), where OpenMano is part of it.     PhD EXPERIRENCE Used to be IPv6 Chief technology expert of China Telecom. Engaged in data communication industry for more than 20 years. Managed operation support and network optimization work of China Telecom’s national IP network and C network packet domain. Created 3 research directions, including IPv6, cloud computing and mobile internet. ACHIEVEMENTS Participated in developing the first narrowband access server in China.
