The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (hereinafter referred to as GBA) includes Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, as well as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province, is one of the four largest Bay Area economic areas in the world, along with the San Francisco Bay Area, the New York Bay Area, and the Tokyo Bay Area. The GBA is one of China's most open and economically dynamic regions, generating nearly RMB 13 trillion in 2022, up 27% from 2017, with Guangdong Province being China's strongest province in economic performance for 34 consecutive years.
In order to comprehensively promote economic and trade dialogue between the GBA and Europe, and to promote bilateral economic and trade exchanges, the People's Government of Guangdong Province of the PRC plans to jointly host the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Europe Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference" with the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the PRC, and the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the PRC in Munich, Germany on September 6, 2023. The conference aims to share the latest developments of the GBA in the post-pandemic era with European companies, invite participants to have in-depth exchanges with representatives from the GBA, and explore bilateral cooperation opportunities. A delegation led by Wang Weizhong, the Governor of Guangdong Province, will attend the conference.
