Sunny Sun was appointed as Vice President and General Manager for Honeywell Energy & Sustainability Solutions (ESS) in China in September 2024. He oversees and drives the operational and strategic direction of ESS China for the sustainable growth of the business in the country.

As one of Honeywell’s four business groups, ESS is a global leader in delivering leading solutions for energy transition, greenhouse gas reduction, and conversion to sustainable materials. Its innovative solutions help tackle 70% of the world’s carbon emission problems and enable customers to achieve more sustainable growth.

Sunny is a senior executive with over 20 years of experience in the coatings and chemical industry. Before joining Honeywell, he was Managing Director of Clean Air in China at Johnson Matthey, and led the sales, technology, manufacturing and supply chain functions.

Sunny started his career as a high school teacher. He later transitioned into the business sector, accumulating diverse sales roles across different industries with companies like Shanghai Tyre & Rubber Co., Ltd, Delphi Battery Co., Ltd., and DuPont Performance Coatings. At DuPont, he was recognized as a "Young Leader" and participated in the Asia leadership training program.

In 2003, Sunny joined AkzoNobel Resins as the National Sales Manager, where he established a new sales, technical service and supply chain team for the new plant. He then moved to PPG Industries, occupying various leadership positions across multiple business units and regions. In 2017, Sunny joined Johnson Matthey as the Commercial Director for Asia in Clean Air and has since advanced to increasingly senior roles.

Sunny holds a master's degree in applied chemistry from Shanghai University and an MBA degree from the University of Hong Kong in a joint program with Fudan University. He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
