Cheryl Cui

Cheryl Cui is the co-founder and CEO of Bota Biosciences. Bota Biosciences is a global industrial biotechnology company focused on programming biological systems for the clean and efficient biomanufacturing of common household and industrial products. Bota Biosciences aims to build an integrated synthetic biology platform for rapid discovery of products that can serve various industries including industry chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, etc. Cheryl Cui earned her joint PhD degree in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics from MIT and Harvard Medical School in 2016. Her research in building synthetic gene circuits and molecular systems have led to publications in Science and Nature journals and a number of patents. Cheryl Cui was honored as one of the US Forbes 30 Under 30 for healthcare in 2019 and one of the MIT Innovators Under 35 in 2020.

Clay Chandler is Fortune’s Asia editor. Based in Hong Kong, Clay oversees Fortune’s editorial operations throughout the region, contributes feature articles, commentary, and news analysis to the magazine and Fortune.com, and leads the Asia- and China-based conferences. Clay writes Eastworld, a twice-weekly newsletter with analysis of developments in Asian business, finance, and technology. Clay returned to Fortune after a six-year stint at McKinsey & Company. He worked previously for Fortune as Asia Editor in Beijing, and before that covered business, economics, and technology in the U.S. and Asia as senior staff writer for the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. Clay has lived in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Tokyo, and reported from every major Asian capital. He speaks Mandarin and Japanese, is a graduate of Harvard University and a former fellow of Harvard’s John King Fairbank program on Chinese studies.

Wenshou Wang
Co-founder and COO of METiS
Dr. Wang obtained his Ph.D. in polymer chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and was been engaged in drug delivery research at the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Minnesota. He has extensive experience in applying AI technology in a wide range of fields, such as 3D printing, material synthesis research, and drug delivery. Dr. Wang leads the development of AI-driven drug formulation and drug delivery platforms at METiS, and is in charge of the company's day-to-day operations in China. Dr. Wang was a research scientist at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, where he created the first ever 3D printer with machine vision and machine learning techniques. He co-founded and led commercialization at Inkbit, an AI-driven 3D printing company that developed technology that can print end-use parts with high- precision and repeatability.

Shuhao Wen

Dr. Shuhao Wen is XtalPi's co-founder, President, and Chairman of the Board. Dr. Wen leads XtalPi's global strategies and XtalPi's partnerships with world-class research institutes and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Wen is a quantum physicist with over 14 years of research experiences in the field of computational physics and quantum chemistry, and has published 36 papers with more than 1,900 citations. Dr. Wen has received multiple awards and recognitions for his accomplishments, including being recognized by Fortune's 2020 “40 Under 40” list in China. Prior to founding XtalPi, Dr. Wen completed his postdoctoral research at MIT, and worked as a postdoctoral research scholar at the University of California at Riverside. At UC Riverside, he participated in the development of the Hybrid Many Body Interaction approach, a highly accurate calculation model for molecular crystal. Dr. Wen holds a Ph.D. in sciences from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Philip Gu
Founder and Director, Stemcell United (SCU) in Australia
Philip Gu is the founder and director of Stemcell United (SCU) in Australia. He was the formal Food and Agriculture Organisation of United Nations(FAO) consultant for sustainable marine food development. Under his leadership, SCU obtained Singapore Food Agency (SFA) approval to set up the first sea grape and seaweed seed bank in Marine Aquaculture Centre on St John's island. Partnering with Temasek Polytechnics, he established a joint laboratory for future Marine Food Nutrition researchand development. Singapore government granted a special license to SCU to carry out Integrated multitrophic aquaculture (IMTA) and establish a more sustainable and resilient circular farming system, called Vertical Integrated Smart Seaweed Cultivation & Application System (VISSCAS), focus on using the ocean as airable land to address food security and climate change to support Singapore achieving its 30x30 goal. He is engaged with INFOFISH as a senior consultant for the sustainable next generation marine food resource development for Asia Pacific countries.
