The Future of Finance Forum, hosted annually by the Bretton Woods Committee (BWC), convenes senior financial industry leaders, innovators, regulators, and policymakers to explore the frontier of financial innovation and the evolving global financial architecture. Following successful editions in Singapore (2022, 2024) and Hong Kong (2023), we are pleased to partner with the International Finance Forum (IFF) and return to Hong Kong in 2025, one of Asia’s most dynamic and internationally integrated financial centers.
This year’s Forum comes at a pivotal moment, as regulators and market actors seek to strike a balance between fostering innovation and maintaining trust and stability in the global financial system. Hong Kong’s strong regulatory institutions, proximity to China, robust fintech ecosystem, and regional leadership in financial regulation and innovation make it an ideal venue.
Theme: Financial Innovation – A unique engine of potential progress
Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, digital assets, and quantum computing are transforming the global financial system. As the pace of innovation quickens, the rules of finance are being rewritten in real time. In a global economy grappling with uncertainty, persistent inflationary pressures, and tepid growth, technological breakthroughs represent a rare bright spot—an engine of potential progress.
Harnessing this progress will be crucial for continued growth and stability in the global financial system, but its pace and complexity presents a challenge as well. Regulators and policymakers must move quickly to keep pace with rapid change—navigating challenges like cyber threats, data misuse, algorithmic discrimination, and the risk of fragmented regulatory regimes. The task is to strike a delicate balance between enabling innovation while safeguarding financial stability, integrity, and trust.
This year’s Forum will bring together leaders across the financial and public sectors to explore how to collectively shape the future of finance. The goal is to create a system that is not only technologically advanced, but also safe, scalable, and inclusive.
