Against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions, the stability of EU-China trade and economic relations are more important than ever for German companies in China. The trade defense measures that both sides have introduced (and are considering) add to uncertainty.
Following talks in June between EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič and China’s Minister of Commerce WANG Wentao, the EU and China agreed to hold regular “Trade and Investment Consultations” and establish a “Joint Monitoring System.” The EU side later said that a solution to existing trade imbalances should be found by October when the Commissioner is scheduled to visit Beijing.
