In recent years, export controls, sanctions, trade remedies, and other trade policy instruments have become increasingly important in global economic relations. For German companies integrated into Chinese and global supply chains, related policy developments and enforcement practices may affect not only the cross-border movement of specific items, technologies, and services, but also sourcing, production, sales, technology cooperation, and supply-chain arrangements.
The German Chamber’s 2025/2026 Business Confidence Survey shows that escalating global trade tensions—including tariff measures and new export control rules—have reduced supply-chain predictability and affected companies’ business planning.
On October 8–9, 2026, the second meeting of the EU-China Trade and Investment Consultations took place in Beijing. In their Joint Statement, both sides reaffirmed the need to further strengthen the EU-China Export Control Dialogue and welcomed increased exchanges and communication through guidance, outreach and training.
Against this background, The German Chamber of Commerce in China is pleased to invite a legal practitioner specialising in export controls and international trade compliance for an exchange on China’s export control system, recent developments and practical observations, and the latest export-control-related developments following the second EU-China Trade and Investment Consultations. The session aims to support German companies in China in better understanding the policy context, regulatory logic, and practical issues that may require attention.
