Is the perception of “Made in Germany” and German products changing in the Chinese society? When Chinese think of Germany, do they think of mechanical engineering and long-lasting high-quality products or do they think of FC Bayern Munich and Oktoberfest? Do Chinese still prefer highly engineered products or are they rather interested in the latest trends with short replacement cycles? Should German companies in China rather focus on a commitment to quality or advertise German lifestyle when selling products? How do changing consumer demands and preferences affect marketing, product placement and employees within German companies? How are German companies in Taicang and the city’s branding as the “German Town” in China affected?

These questions will be addressed by a diverse panel consisting of representatives of German multinational consumer brands, German consumer goods consultants and local German B2B companies in Taicang.
