In recent years, Artificial Intelligence technology has been increasingly brought out of the laboratory to provide convenience to people’s life. However, it’s also been brought to awareness that the applications of AI are limited. For example, AI semantic analysis system alone is not competent for autonomous driving. The industry-university-research community has recently accelerated its exploration of General Artificial Intelligence, striving to make breakthroughs in cognitive and fusion intelligence, ternary space group intelligence, digital twins, cross-media intelligent computing, intelligent robots, AI ethics, and other major technical fields to develop intelligent machine partners that can think like humans and do a variety of works like humans. At present, AI technology is mainly applied in the Mobility and healthcare sectors. For mobility, the AI system is widely used in the auxiliary/autonomous driving system, and deeply integrated into the road network management system, greatly improving the efficiency and safety of the entire transportation system. For healthcare, AI has been adopted in almost all processes and steps of drug research and development, and also widely used and developed in health management, auxiliary diagnosis and treatment, drug query, drug dispensing, and even rational drug use in clinics.  

China is leading the world in the number of AI patent applications and its commercial adoption of AI is also booming. It now has 8 national AI innovation and application pilot zones, including Shanghai (Pudong New Area).  As the first national AI pilot zone, Shanghai is being built into an international AI high ground to promote the transition from “Shanghai standard” to “international standard”, which requires the collaborative innovation of "government-industry-university-research-application" to support the in-depth applications of AI in the economy, life, and governance as well as the high-quality development of AI industry from the perspective of basic research and technical standards. 

Hosted by Supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and co-organized by Fudan University and SAE International, the World General Artificial Intelligence Summit will be held in Shanghai from March 30 to 31, 2022. The summit themed "General Artificial Intelligence" will bring together well-known international and domestic academicians, scholars, and industry leaders to discuss hot topics such as the trends, core technologies, and applications of intelligent vehicles, intelligent medical and general artificial intelligence, and have a proactive conversation on the relationship between AI, social ethics, and laws and regulations, etc. At the same time, the forum also calls for papers on related topics from the whole industry to promote industry-university-research cooperation and high-quality development of the AI industry.
