            The past three years have marked a giant leap for both the ACT and GAC. ACT China has shown marvelous teamwork and innovation under the Holistic Framework despite the challenges and obstacles encountered in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. More importantly, our GAC Teaching Centers have also showcased spectacular flexibility and cooperation while navigating through even greater uncertainties. The ACT GAC Summit 2023 will be an excellent opportunity to celebrate our achievements and new developments while at the same time, providing a platform for experts in the international education community to discuss the future of China’s education in this fast-changing world.


Highlights


Creation and Integration: ACT colleagues from both USA and China will introduce new strategies, academic programs, and professional development support initiated in the past years to ensure education success. There will be data updates about the ACT test and ACT GAC program. 


Adaptation and Flexibility: Latest information about overseas education and visa policies will be shared. In addition, admission officers and counselors will share tips as well as anticipated trends about university applications and admissions. 


Development and Sustainability: This is an opportunity for all existing and new GAC teaching centers to share their achievements on GAC teaching and their experience of establishing long-term sustainability.

    Andrew Taylor has worked in education for over 20 years. He has worked in a number of countries including the United Kingdom, The United States, India, Qatar, Colombia and the United Arab Emirates. He has experience in K-12 Education in both the traditional academic and the vocational (CTE in USA) sides of that space as well as in the global Higher Education space. His resume includes being part of the global leadership team for Edexcel GCEs and iGCSE and leading the operational programs for scoring and results delivery for national and international exams for Pearson UK. He has successfully managed partnerships in a number of locations including working with the Supreme Education Council to develop and launch a new awarding body for essential skills in Qatar, working to standardize curricula with SENA in Colombia and partnering with Arizona State University to help build their online campus to one of the biggest in the world. He has also been the editor in chief for a number of vocational educational publishing partnerships including with the National Center for Construction and Education, and the National Restaurant Association. Having worked for 19 years with Pearson he joined ACT in April 2020 and has responsibility for all non-Domestic products and services including the flagship GAC. He also leads our Workforce portfolio including the WorkKeys and National Career Readiness Certificates (NCRC).

    Ms. Ning Deng is International ACAC Executive Board member, fellow of “Inviting Visitor Leadership program” selected by the US Department of States, and receiver of “Best Contribution award “given by Education USA, previously served as Director of College Counseling of Shenzhen Vanke MeiSha Academy. Ms. Deng holds College Counseling & Certificates from UCLA and Career planning certificate from UC Berkeley. She is also certified as a Strength Development Coach by Gallup. She is an experienced college counseling office engineer through over ten years of practices in public and private international programs and pioneer of college counseling profession in China. Her current interest is in developing an ethical college counseling office model in high school and the professional development of college counselors to best advocate international students. She has been working with over thousands of students to get into the top tier universities in the world with a large amount of scholarship.

    Phoebe You has eleven years of management and operational experience in international higher education field. As the founder of The Ohio State University’s first overseas office in Shanghai, Ms. You focuses on developing Ohio State’s alumni network in the Greater China area, liaising the university with the Chinese higher education institutes, exploring the market for various educational training programs as well as providing assistance for faculty research, student recruitment, and student career services.   As an active international higher education advocate, Ms. You served on the steering committee of AUCA which also known as American Universities' China Association since 2016, which aims at developing a professional platform to connect educators working for US and overseas institutions in China. Ms. You is frequently consulted by US higher education administrators about establishing China operations and strategies to enter the China market.  Ms. You’s previous experiences include co-op experience in top 150 largest law firm Schottenstein Zox & Dunn and legal research experience with renowned professor from Moritz College of Law. She has a LLM from Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University and a LLB degree from East China University of Science and Technology.

    Dr. Kuo, Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Associate Professor of Applied Psychology, is an educational psychologist who earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Iowa. He served as Associate Professor of Collaborative Innovation Center of Assessment for Basic Education Quality at Beijing Normal University, ACT visiting scholar, and Senior Research Associate of Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Kuo received significant awards and honors to recognize his research and teaching accomplishments, including UIC President's Award for Teaching and Service in 2016, Guangdong High-Level Talent in 2017, and Guangdong Superior Talent Card in 2019. In addition, he has dedicated himself to the services in various academic communities. He is serving as Managing Editor of Innovative Teaching and Learning and Editorial Board Member of Gifted Education International, while he served as President of Chinese American Educational Research and Development Association between 2016 and 2018. Dr. Kuo’s research interests include social and emotional learning, large-scale assessments in education, development of innovative assessments, and college teaching and learning. As of date, he has authored more than 40 publications and 70 conference presentations.
