AHK Greater China is part of the German Chambers of Commerce Worldwide Network (AHK) which includes 150 offices in 93 countries. The AHK's history in Greater China stretches back to 1981, when the first office was opened in Taipei. With our five main offices and seven supporting offices in Greater China, we focus on trade and investment between these two regions. 

The German Chamber of Commerce in China is the official member organization which represents German companies doing business in China. The German Chamber helps its members succeed by providing up-to-date market information and practical advice. It offers a platform for the Sino-German business community and represents its members’ interests towards stakeholders, including governmental and public stakeholders. The Chamber was founded in 1999 and currently has more than 2,100 members in China.

The Berlin Business Desk China (BBDC) is the first overseas office of the State of Berlin, and the only officiaI representation of the economic interests of the German Capital in China. As a bridge between the economies of China and Berlin, the BBDC focuses on supporting cooperation and exchange with China in the strongest and most innovative industries of the German capital, including life sciences and healthcare, information and communication technology (ICT), media and creative industries, transport, mobility and logistics, energy technology and clean technologies as well as photonics.

The Askania story began in 1871 when Carl Bamberg, the son of a watchmaker from Thuringia and a student of Carl Zeiss, founded the "Bamberg Werke" at 185 Linienstrasse in Berlin.
