Introduction

Dear Friends and Colleagues

The ICDT Organising Committee and I are sure you have been facing particularly challenging times during the last 6 months due to the Covid-19 virus. Our sincere and heartfelt sympathies if you, your family or friends have been affected. These are terrible times but there is hope for the future with several countries making good progress towards developing a vaccine, including China, France, Germany, Russia, UK and USA.

Over the last few weeks we have been very busy deciding what to do for the ICDT in October. We have carefully considered advice from the appropriate health authorities. As always, our concerns for the health and safety of all our participants have been at the foremost of our considerations. We are delighted to announce that the 2020 ICDT will proceed in October. However, to protect all participants, we have decided, with great reluctance, to hold the conference online only.
The schedule is still in the process of being completed but currently it is as follows:
  • 26 October: Opening Ceremony and Invited Oral Presentations

  • 27 and 28 October: up to 9 parallel oral sessions in the topic areas

  • 29 October: Invited Oral Presentations, Awards and Closing Ceremony.

Special arrangements are being made for posters – details will be announced soon.
To deal with the switch from the original ICDT dates in April to October, we decided to publish the conference proceedings in two parts, a Spring edition, and an Autumn edition.
It was important for many authors to get their papers published. The Spring Proceedings are available now at the web address:
https://iopscience.iop.org/volume/1742-6596/1507We expect that papers for the Autumn edition will be published online in October 2020.
Other details on the ICDT are being sorted out so we urge you to be patient, please, and wait for us to contact you. If you have any particular concerns then please do not hesitate to contact us at the following:

We are hopeful that Covid-19 will be beaten in 2020/1 and already are making tentative plans towards holding the 3rd ICDT in the end of 2021/the beginning of 2022.

Best wishes
