广东省技师学院创办于1960年，2002年升格为技师学院，是广东省人力资源和社会保障厅直属的培养复合型高素质技能人才的国家级重点技工院校。

学院围绕产业建专业，开设有现代制造工程、计算机与软件工程、经济管理与贸易、新能源应用与材料、现代服务管理等11个二级学院34个常设专业。学院工业机械、机电一体化、新能源汽车技术、模具制造四个专业设立中德合作班，中德班学生可考取德国AHK职业资格证书。

学院与300多家知名企业开展合作，与55家知名企业组成校企合作联盟，2023年被确定为全国第一批示范性技工教育联盟（集团）建设院校。目前学院已建成国家高技能人才培养示范基地、国家级示范学校、全国技工院校师资培训基地、共青团中央青年就业创业见习基地等，是人社部职业训练院试点单位、第一批广东省高水平技师学院。

As a deputy departmental-level national key technician college, Guangdong Technician Institue(GTI) is sponsored by Guangdong Provincial People's Government and directly under the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong(DHRSSOG). Founded in 1960, GTI was upgraded to a technician college.

GTI builds specialties around industrial development and offers 34 specialties in 11 secondary institute, among which, 4 specialties including Industrial Machinery, Mechatronics, New Energy Vehicle Technology, Mould Manufacturing have set up Chinese-Germany class, Students in the class can obtain the German AHK vocational qualification.

Close to the market demand, GTI has cooperated with more than 300 well-known enterprises in talent training, technological innovation, employment and entrepreneurship, social services, etc., including 15 of the world's top 500 enterprises, and established a school enterprise cooperation alliance composed of 55 well-known enterprises. In 2023, GTI was identified as one of the first batch of national institutions to build a model technical education alliance (group). GTI has now been built into a national demonstration base for training high skilled talents, a national teacher training base for technician colleges, a pilot unit of the Vocational Training Institute of the MOHSSS, a pilot unit of the New Apprenticeship System of enterprises, a youth employment and entrepreneurship internship base of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and a construction unit of the high-level Technician College of Guangdong.
