We are now facing serious environmental and social problems with fossil fuel utilization in the 21st century. Among the primary energies, coal is, and will be one of the dominant energy source over the world for a long time due to its abundant reserves and low cost. Up to now, combustion is still the main way for coal utilization to produce power and heat. However, coal contains not only a variety of impurities that are harmful to the environments, but also more carbon than other fuels. Clean coal technologies with high efficiency and low carbon emission are of great significance for the whole world. As rapid growth of the renewable energies, flexible and intelligent coal utilization technologies are also more desired.
The International Symposium on Coal Combustion (ISCC) is a unique series of symposium on coal combustion in the world. It has been successfully held for eight times every four years since 1987, organized by Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. The coming ISCC-9 will be held in Qingdao, a harbor city on the east coast of Shandong Province, China, in July 21-24, 2019. We sincerely invite the scientists, engineers and graduates from both academe and industries, who are interested in more efficient and cleaner coal utilization to attend the symposium. The symposium is to offer a non-profit platform for all attendants to exchange their ideas, research experience and results on coal and alternative fuel combustion. It will also help the attendants to build up new partnership in the associated scientific research and industrial application.
