Call for Abstract

Dear Colleagues,

The 7th International Conference on Smart Materials and Nanotechnology in Engineering (SMN2019) will be held in Harbin, China from September 20th to 23rd, 2019.

SMN2019 is 7th of the series of successful international conferences that encompasses and bridges the rapidly evolving smart materials and the cutting-edge nanotechnology for various applications. This conference has been promoted since 2007 by Prof. Shanyi Du and Prof. Jinsong Leng, from Harbin Institute of Technology (China). Past Conference venues have been Harbin (China, 2007), Weihai (China, 2009), Shenzhen (China, 2011), Gold Coast (Australia, 2013), Vancouver (Canada, 2015) and Madrid (Spain, 2017). SMN2019 aims at providing a comprehensive forum for discussing current state of the art of Smart Materials and Nanotechnology as well as developing future ideas on a multidisciplinary level, with emphasize on integration of smart materials and nanotechnology. The conference is to bring together the best research and applications on smart materials, structures, and nanotechnology, and will be attended by leading international experts from both academia and industry.


The conference will consist of eleven themes as follows: (1) Stimuli Responsive Materials; (2) Structural Health Monitoring & Nondestructive Evaluation(3) Vibration Control and Energy Harvesting; (4) Behavior and Mechanics of Smart Materials; (5) Nanocomposites; (6) 4D Printing Technologies; (7) Behavior and Mechanics of Smart Materials(8) Metamaterials; (9) Smart Surfaces and Interfaces(10) New composites and structures; (11) Multifunctional materials. Each theme will contain 3-7 tracks and each track will be divided into several sessions depending on the number of submissions.


Harbin, geographically located in the north of China, is an exciting, vibrant and clean city, and warmly welcomes you to SMN2019. Moreover, you can enjoy good weather and wonderful Autumn colors in Harbin in September.

We may publish SMN2019 conference proceedings in SPIE based on peer review results and the number of full-length articles, which will be included by the major database Engineering Index.  

Abstract Template 

Abstracts must be written in English.
Abstracts are to include key results and key references, and are to be a minimum of 500 words in length along with inclusion of figure(s) and/or table(s).
All text, graphics, chart, tables, pictures, etc. must be embedded into a final single file.
Abstract can only be submitted via the electronic online system; submission via fax, post or email will not be accepted.

Do not submit abstract that has already been published.

Oral Presentations
Each presenter has 20 minutes totally – 15 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions. A warning will be given when 5 minutes left. When the 20 minutes have gone, the presentation will be terminated. The session chair will be very strict in administering time. Please adhere to the time schedule.

Standard Size: 80 cm (width) × 120 cm (length)

All posters will have to be removed after exhibition. The conference organising committee takes no responsibility for posters after that. 

Presenters are required to stand by their posters to answer questions during Poster Exhibition and Reception
