Dear Colleagues and Friends
It is my great pleasure to announce that the 24th ANQ Congress will be held in Chengdu, China, from 14 to 18 September 2026.
Since the establishment of ANQ in 2002, we have journeyed together for over two decades of collaboration and shared progress. Today, ANQ has grown into one of the most influential platforms for quality exchange in the world.
Meanwhile, our world is being reshaped at an unprecedented pace, profoundly affecting every industry and every organization. As we look ahead to 2026, we are called to reflect together: in an era of transformation, how can quality anchor direction and illuminate the path forward?
As the host of this Congress, we have chosen the theme: “Integrating Asia and the World: Igniting a Quality-Driven Sustainable Future”. We warmly invite the global quality community to join us in responding to the challenges of our time with professional insight and collective wisdom. In particular, we aim to explore three closely interconnected topics:
Quality Innovation. Innovation remains the enduring driving force of quality development. We stand at the threshold of the Quality 4.0 era, where the deep integration of Industry 4.0 and quality management is reshaping the very foundations of our work. Technologies such as big data, the Internet of Things, and digital twins are transforming quality practices, while AI is redefining how quality is predicted, controlled, and continuously improved—bringing unprecedented precision and efficiency, alongside new risks and uncertainties. Quality professionals must not only embrace AI-driven intelligence, but also take an active role in shaping its governance, standards, and ethical use in quality management. We look forward to exploring how quality innovation, empowered by digital transformation and AI, can strengthen organizations, unlock industries, and build a solid foundation for a sustainable future.
Sustainability. Sustainability has become a global imperative, with green and low-carbon transitions reshaping industrial policies and market dynamics worldwide. Quality is no longer limited to conformity of products and services. It should serve as a measure of sustainability itself. From quantifying product carbon footprints, building green supply chains, to designing circular economy models, every quality decision has an impact on the future of our planet. Quality professionals must integrate sustainability into their practices, ensuring that every improvement contributes to a more sustainable world and the harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature.
International Collaboration. The challenges we face today are increasingly complex—accelerated technological change, urgent climate issues, and frequent supply chain disruptions. The global quality community must work together more closely than ever before. This is not only about complementing resources, but also about integrating diverse perspectives. When quality practices from different cultural and developmental contexts come together, they often generate the most dynamic and effective solutions. As a key platform for quality exchange in Asia, ANQ is committed to promoting cross-regional and cross-organizational collaboration, deepening cooperation in areas such as mutual recognition of standards, sharing of best practices, and joint research. We believe that only through openness, inclusiveness, and collective progress can the value of quality transcend borders and benefit wider communities.
These three are not isolated—they are interwoven and mutually reinforcing, shaping the future landscape of quality together. Chengdu provides an ideal setting for this dialogue. With a history spanning over three millennia, this city—whose name and location have remained unchanged—stands as a living testament to Chinese civilization, while also serving as a vibrant hub of innovation in western China.
In September, Chengdu greets you with clear skies and a pleasant climate. As the heart of the “Land of Abundance” and the home of the giant panda, the city awaits the global quality community with openness and hospitality. We sincerely invite both long-standing partners and new friends to join us in Chengdu in the golden autumn of 2026, as we write the next chapter of ANQ together.
We look forward to welcoming you to Chengdu!
Yours sincerely,
Duan Yonggang
Chair, Organizing Committee of the 24th ANQ Congress
The Asian Network for Quality (ANQ) was established in Tokyo in November 2002. The first ANQ Congress was hosted by the China Association for Quality (CAQ) in Beijing in 2003. As we look ahead, ANQ will celebrate its silver jubilee in 2027.
Our network has continued to grow steadily. With the recent addition of the Saudi Quality Council (SQC), ANQ now consists of 21 member organizations. For reference, the European Organization for Quality (EOQ), our big brother, has 23 national representative organizations, indicating that ANQ has reached a comparable scale.
Aristotle pointed out in his Metaphysics that “quality” can be understood as the differentia that distinguishes one species from another. For example, humans and horses are different in species, and the number of legs is a “quality” that distinguishes them.
Applying this idea to Chengdu, a city renowned for its Sichuan cuisine, one might say that the defining quality of Sichuan dishes lies in their spiciness. Interestingly, chili peppers—the source of this spiciness—originated in Mexico and spread across Asia after the time of Columbus, influencing the cuisines of Southeast Asia, India, Korea, Sichuan,
Hunan, and beyond. During your visit to Chengdu, I encourage you to enjoy Sichuan cuisine and reflect on how “spiciness” differs across cultures—for example, between Sichuan and Thai cuisines—and how environmental factors such as climate may have shaped these differences. In Bangkok, spicy cuisine helps people cope with the heat; in Chengdu, with the humidity.
While the current global situation remains uncertain, I sincerely hope that by September, when everyone gathers for the Congress, travel to Chengdu will be smooth and all participants will arrive safely.

Purpose of Quality is to respect humanity in physical, emotional and intellectual terms. Being human means to protect flora and fauna that nurtures life for Earth to sustain itself. We as humans as the most evolved species have the obligation to lead by example.
Members of the Asian Network For Quality strive for the Purpose of contributing to integration, prosperity & quality of human life in Asia through Daily Work following the Core Values and living the Asian Way. This is a part of the ANQ statement issued in 2002 at Tokyo at the formation of ANQ.
Since 2002 Asia’s GDP (nominal) has grown from 8.2 Tr to 43 Tr i.e. 36% of the World GDP, as compared to North America at 37 Tr and Europe at 32 Tr. Quality has played a significant role in this achievement. As world leaders we now have an obligation to support other regions to improve quality of life while enabling the world to become self-sustaining.
The theme at the ANQ Congress 2026 in Chengdu “Integrating Asia and the World: Igniting a Quality-Driven Sustainable Future” is in alignment with the ANQ Way and shows our obligation to integrate with the world and make it sustainable through Quality.
It is my privilege to invite delegates from all around the world and particularly from ANQ Member regions to the 24th ANQ Congress 2026 in Chengdu, China to share and learn as a community of Quality professionals.
ANQ Congresses provide best opportunity in the world to learn and that too at affordable fee due to the spirit of austerity practiced in Asia.
I look forward to meeting many of known colleague and many more new ones.
