Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the State Key Laboratory of Nonlinear Mechanics for Extreme Environments, Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a national‑level candidate of the New Century Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Program, and was selected into the CAS Hundred Talents Program. He enjoys the Special Government Allowance of the State Council of China. He received his Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics from the Institute of Mechanics, CAS, in 1996. After completing his postdoctoral research at Peking University in 1998, he joined the Institute of Mechanics and has been working there since. During 2005‑2006, he was a visiting scholar at Harvard University. He formerly served as Chairman of the Degree Evaluation Committee and Academic Committee of the Institute of Mechanics. He is currently Vice President of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Editor‑in‑Chief of Advances in Mechanics, and Chief Science Communication Expert in Explosion Mechanics of the China Association for Science and Technology. His research interests include impact dynamics and mechanics of novel materials, with a long‑term focus on the theory and application of shear bands in metallic materials. He received the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award in 2020 (as the first contributor). He has led major projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Strategic Priority Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the major pre‑research program of the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission.

(1999), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Ph.D. (2003), Nanyang Technological University. Recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2012); one of the first‑batch leading talents in scientific and technological innovation under the National High‑Level Talent Program (2014). He worked at the Institute of Systems Engineering, China Academy of Engineering Physics from December 1989 to December 2016, and joined Beijing Institute of Technology in January 2017. His long‑term research covers mechanics of complex structures, structural impact dynamics, armor‑penetration dynamics, and conventional weapon warhead design. His current research interests include hypervelocity impact, armor penetration and penetration, damage assessment, etc. He has won 9 ministerial‑level Science and Technology Progress Awards (including 5 second‑class prizes). He has published more than 250 journal papers at home and abroad (over 150 indexed by SCI), and authored three monographs: Theoretical Modeling and Analysis of Armor‑Penetration/Penetration Mechanics (Volume I & II), and Long‑Rod High‑Velocity/Hypervelocity Penetration: Theoretical Models and Numerical Simulations. His honors include the First‑batch Distinguished Expert of China Academy of Engineering Physics (2012), Deng Jiaxian Youth Science and Technology Award (2010), Yu Min Prize for Mathematical‑Physical Sciences (2010), and the Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Practical Engineering Award from the China Association for Science and Technology (2012). He serves as Associate Editor of Defence Technology and Chinese Journal of Energetic Materials, and editorial board member for more than ten domestic and international journals including IJIE, IJPS and EMF. He holds adjunct professorships at multiple universities, and has been consecutively listed as an Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researcher in Ordnance Science and Technology and Mechanics.
Jianguo Zhang is a professor in School of Mechatronical Engineering at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). He obtained a Ph.D. degree in applied chemistry at BIT and has been a faculty number at BIT since 2000. His research interests include the energetic materials and energy storage device. He has co-authored over 300 research papers and filed more than 60 patents.
Professor Daniel Rittel holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, completed postdoctoral research at Yale University, and is a professor and former Vice President of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he founded the Dynamic Fracture Laboratory. He is a member of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He currently holds the Zandman Chair of Experimental Mechanics and is primarily responsible for the Center for Materials Mechanics. He serves as an Associate Editor for several internationally renowned academic journals, including Mechanics of Materials, International Journal of Engineering Science, and International Journal of Impact Engineering. Professor Rittel’s research primarily focuses on the thermodynamics and physics of dynamic failure phenomena, including dynamic fragmentation, fracture, adiabatic shear banding, and hysteretic heating. To date, he has published 208 papers, which have received 4,597 citations, with an h‑index of 37. In 2015, he was awarded the Gili Agostinelli Prize by the Academy of Sciences of Turin, Italy, and in 2018, he received the B.J. Lazan Award from the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM).
Prof. Valery Sinditskii is a dean of Chemical Engineering Department, head of chair “Chemistry and technology of organic nitrogen compounds”, and professor of Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology, Moscow, Russia. Prof. Sinditskii graduated Moscow State University, Chemistry Department in 1976, received a Ph.D. in Chemistry in N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry in 1981 and Dr. of Science in Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology in 2003. The research interests of Prof. Sinditskii are synthesis, thermal decomposition, combustion and application of energetic materials. Prof. Sinditskii published over 350 publications including 29 patents, and he is a member of editorial boards of “Combustion, Explosion, and Shock Waves”, “Central European Journal of Energetic Materials”, “Energetic Materials Frontiers” and Associate Editor of “International Journal of Energetic Materials and Chemical Propulsion”. Vice-chairman of Special commission of experts at the Higher Certifying Commission in Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation. Honorary Foreign Member of the High-energy material Society of India (2013). Visiting professor of Beijing Institute of Technology (2012).

Marcilio Alves graduated in Mechanical Engineering, Federal Uni-versity of Santa Catarina, Brazil, in 1983, where he also obtained hisMaster Degree. His Doctoral Degree is from The University of LiverpoolImpact Research Centre in 1996 under the guidance of Prof. N. Jones.Back in Brazil, he established at the University of Sao Paulo the Groupof Solid Mechanics and Structural Impact. He obtained various grants,which supported his research activities in the areas of structural impact,material characterization and non-linear finite elements. He published many articles in scientific journals and conferences, covering theoretical,experimental and numerical aspects of non-linear dynamics. He editedfour books on Structural Impact and Solid Mechanics and established abiennial cycles of conferences in Solid Mechanics and in Impact Load-ing of Lightweight Structures. He is the Editor-in-Chief and Founderof the Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures and AssociateEditor of the International Journal of Impact Engineering. He has beenpublishing with authors from different universities of Brazil, UK, Ger-many, Bulgaria, China, South Africa, Belgium, Australia and Norway.He is Professor at University of Sao Paulo and Executive Director of itsFoundation, FUSP.
Dr. Andreas Schiffer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Khalifa University (KU) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He obtained his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Graz University of Technology (Austria) in 2009 and his DPhil in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford (UK) in 2013. He also held a post-doctoral position in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London (UK), prior to joining KU in 2014.
Dr. Schiffer’s research interests cover multiple themes in the broad area of Mechanics of Materials and are currently focused on multifunctional composites and architected materials processed via additive manufacturing. In addition, he has a long-standing interest in studying the response of materials and structures subjected to blast, shock, and impact loading, and he conducts research in solitary wave-based non-destructive testing. Dr. Schiffer’s research has led to several publications in prestigious international journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. He has spent several research visits at the Imperial College in London and delivered invited presentations and seminars at highly-ranked universities, including the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Imperial College London, and RMIT Melbourne. Dr. Schiffer is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the European Mechanics Society (EUROMECH) and serves on the Editorial Boards of Frontiers in Materials, Frontiers in Aerospace Engineering, and Damage (Elsevier).
Professor Mustafa Güden got his PhD from Materials Science and Engineering Department of University of Delaware in 1998. He is a Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department of İzmir Institute of Technology, Turkey. His research focusses on the experimental and numerical analysis of the high strain rate deformation behavior of monolithic metals, polymers and ceramics and their composites and metallic cellular/lattice structures. He has co-authored 125 peer reviewed journal articles (more than 5000 citations in Google Scholar, h-index=41) and 95 conference proceedings. Dr. Güden has also been awarded with Professor Mustafa Parlar Master Thesis Award, Husamettin Tugac Foundation Technology Research Award, TUBITAK Motivation Award and Elginkan Foundation Technology Award.
