Talk title: Inside Nature Photonics: the editorial process and writing tips
Giampaolo joined Nature Photonics in January 2022. He obtained a degree in Physics from the University of Catania (Italy), followed by an MSc in Condensed Matter Physics and Nanotechnology from the same institution in 2015. In 2019, he received his PhD in Physics from the University of York (UK), where he later worked as a postdoctoral researcher. Giampaolo is based in Beijing and handles manuscripts in the areas of optoelectronics, imaging and sensing.
Talk title: Light: Science & Applications, eLight, Light: Advanced Manufacturing: for the wellbeing of optics community
Dr. Chenzi Guo, Deputy Head of the Light Publishing Group, the Director of eLight, and an Editor of Light: Science & Applications (LSA).
Dr. Guo began her career as an editor of LSA in 2013 and has since played key roles in helping expand the journal brand globally. In 2021, she started eLight, a journal focusing on major breakthroughs across interdisciplinary fields related to optics. Under her leadership, eLight received its latest impact factor of 32.1 in 2025, ranking No. 2 among optics journals for the past two years. Since 2024, she serves as the Deputy Head of the Light Publishing Group, which owns 9 journals including LSA, eLight, Light: Advanced Manufacturing. Dr. Guo is the winner of the National Campaign for Young Editors in STM Journals (2019), TOP Editors of China’s Outstanding STM Journals (2023), China’s National Public Lesson Lecturer (2025), etc. Dr. Guo is a committee member of International Communication and Collaboration Division of China Editology Society of Science Periodicals, fellow of Youth Innovation Promotion Association of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She is an author/co-author of 30+ journal publications including Nature, she chairs 8 national projects and has been invited for keynote/invited talks in more than 40 conferences.
Talk title: Photonics Journal Introduction and MDPI Editorial Process
Nelson Peng graduated from the University of Science and Technology Beijing with a Master's degree. After joining MDPI, he has held the roles of Assistant Editor and Managing Editor for journals including Remote Sensing, Infrastructures, and Photonics, and currently serves as the Publisher of Photonics. His core responsibilities include monitoring the quality of the journal's peer-review process, building solid collaborative relationships between the journal editorial team and external scholars, and providing high-quality publishing services to the academic community.
